(Cazenovia, NY -April 2013) On Saturday April 13, Cazenovia College’s Environmental Club and the Cazenovia College Chapter of Alpha Lambda Delta National First Year Honor Society, invite people of all ages to help with the annual Chittenango Creek Clean-Up.
The day begins with doughnuts at 10 a.m., at the Buyea’s Hardware parking lot. Workers will divide into small groups, disperse and start cleaning up, finishing around noon. Bags and gloves will be provided.
Beginning at 1 p.m., the same student groups and Cazenovia Preservation Foundation invite community members to help plant 200 seedlings of native shrub and tree species around the Willow Patch (on Chenango Street next to Chittenango Creek). Parking is available behind the Cazenovia Public Library. Volunteers should wear boots.
Planting bars, gloves, and seedlings will be provided by a grant from the American Chemical Society. The day will end about 3 p.m. As with the morning clean-up, all ages are welcome, but this afternoon event may be a better choice for helpers not yet in middle school.
People may volunteer for one or both events. No registration is required, but to help with planning, please call or email Thad Yorks at 655-7148 or teyorks@cazenovia.edu with the number of people in your clean-up or tree-planting group.
