To the Editor:
(Chittenango NY -April 2013) Spring is here; this means Community Betterment Day is just around the corner. Once again, we are looking for our community organizations as well as individual volunteers to offer their assistance to help us get Chittenango ‘spruced up.’
Chittenango’s 35th annual ‘Betterment Day’ is scheduled for Saturday, April 27. Betterment Day is our community’s ‘spring cleaning’ day. Each group or organization’s team leader or contact person will ‘check in’ at the Chittenango Fire Station at 9 that day to pick up garbage bags and any tools and equipment necessary for his or her team.
All residents are encouraged to participate. Walk around your own neighborhood and pick up litter; make it a family project. Then at noon, all volunteers are invited to the firehouse on the corner of Russell Street and Route 5 for a hot dog and soda.
If you have not scheduled your group, call Village Parks Committee member/Betterment Day representative Mary Alice Clapp at 315.687.6603 (call in the evening) to sign up and receive your team’s designated ‘clean up’ area and any instructions.
On behalf of our beautiful village, thank you for your continued support.
Mickey Kopp, Village Parks Commissioner; Village Parks Committee Members MaryAlice Clapp and Colleen Baldwin and DPW Representative Nelson Smith
