Donates equipment, services to Morrisville college students

(Morrisville, NY- May 2013)) Earlville-area chef Doug Tarpinian of Doug’s Holy Smokes BBQ put his years of culinary experience to good use when serving up Texas style BBQ to 800 Morrisville students and faculty on May 1. The BBQ was a cooperative effort with the School of Agriculture, MAC, CAB, IFSEA and Tarpinian; which was held in the quad area of Morrisville State College.

The BBQ was planned by IFSEA (International Food Service Executive Association) students, whom also worked at the event, preparing and serving food, handing out tickets and overseeing mechanical bull rides.

A DJ provided live music as students and faculty mingled among the crowd, some showing off their skills on the bull with a group of onlookers snapping photos.

Tarpinian—known to students as “Chef Doug,” donated his services and food equipment for the event, stating that he was “very happy with the turnout,” and appreciative of the invitation from Morrisville State to help with the BBQ.

Tarpinian, a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, Hyde Park, has been in the BBQ business for six years in the Earlville area. Previous to opening his successful Holy Smokes BBQ, he was a private chef on Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s yacht, where he also met his wife.
