To the Editor:

(Brookfield, NY – May 13, 2013) As you know by now, the Appellate Court in Albany plunged a dagger into the rapidly weakening heart of the gas industry with their vicious and greedy eyes on this great state when they voted unanimously to uphold the right to ban by communities such as Brookfield high volume hydrofracking. It is a great victory for local communities and the people’s right to make a powerful impact on how government responds to their needs on the local level.

Over 150 local political entities have either passed banning regulations or moratoriums under Home Rule/regulating land use.

I strongly urge that the Brookfield Town Board vote as soon as possible to ban high volume hydrofracking or at least vote to allow the people to give a preferential vote on this topic in November. A vote that would clearly indicate to you and the town board the people’s preference and the direction for the town board to proceed. We the people hop that you will not disappoint us.
