Gibbons Earns DAR Good Citizens Scholarship
The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution program is intended to encourage and reward senior students who have demonstrated the qualities of good citizen. These include dependability, (truthfulness, loyalty and punctuality), service (cooperation, courtesy and consideration of others), leadership (personality, self-control and ability to assume responsibility), and patriotism (unselfish interest in family, school, community and nation) to an outstanding degree.
To be considered, each student must submit a transcript of his courses and grades, two recommendations from teachers or other authorative individuals and complete and essay. This year’s topic was “How are our responsibilities as good citizens changing?”
Chittenango High School senior Emily Gibbons, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dan Gibbons will be receiving this award.
A reception was held in her honor May 9 at the chapter house in Oneida Castle.
Regan Earns Place on Dean’s List at Berklee College of Music
Berklee College of Music announces that Timothy Regan of Cazenovia has earned placement on the Dean’s List for the fall semester of the 2012 academic year. To be eligible for this honor, a full-time student must achieve a grade point average of 3.4 or above; a part-time student must achieve a grade point average of 3.6 or above.

Carroll Achieves Academic Excellence at Buffalo State
Shane Carroll of Morrisville was recognized for outstanding academic achievement at Buffalo State’s 56th annual Honors Convocation on April 18.
To qualify, students must earn a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher and have accumulated a minimum of 45 credit hours. Buffalo State’s Honors Convocation is held each spring to celebrate students who have achieved this level of academic excellence.

McDonald to Attend RIT
Connor McDonald, son of Joseph McDonald and Kathy McDonald of Canastota has enrolled for Fall Semester, 2013 admission at Rochester Institute of Technology. Connor is in the Physics – BS program in RIT’s College of Science and is a 2013 graduate of Canastota High School in Canastota. Connor has been awarded an RIT Achievement Scholarship.
