A Legislative Statement from Assemblywoman Claudia Tenney (R,C,I-New Hartford)

(June 18, 2013) I am proud to inform the community that my colleagues and I passed a restoration of funding to the Office for People With Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD). From day one, when cuts were proposed to the services and care of those most vulnerable in our society, I demanded that we immediately restore all funding to OPWDD.

On March 28, I was proud to stand up and vote for an amendment to the final New York State budget, sponsored by my Assembly Minority colleagues, to restore funding. I am sorry that those families who rely upon OPWDD services have been living in fear and consternation while this issue has been debated in the hallways of the State Capitol.

Today, I can be proud that a mistake in New York was ultimately fixed, and we have made this state a better and safer place for its residents.
