(Madison County, NY – June 2013) Planning a picnic this summer? Head to Cornell Cooperative Extension’s 6th annual Open Farm Day on Saturday, July 27 between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. to pack your basket with local food grown right in your back yard.

Open Farm Day will feature 37 farms that will open their gates on July 27 and is an opportunity for you, your family and your friends to travel Madison County, tour the farms, sample some homegrown products, see farm animals and experience the bounty of Madison County Agriculture.

Just to name a few products available…local grass fed beef, butter and bison, pasture-raised pork, sweet corn, peas, tomatoes, mushrooms, jams, honey, salsa, bread, wine, hard and sweet cider, maple products and much more will be available for purchase.

All you need before you hit the road on July 27 is an Open Farm Day passport and a cooler. Open Farm Day Passports are available at 10 Price Chopper locations in CNY, mailed directly to thousands of homes in Madison County as well as distributed to key locations in Onondaga, Oneida and Madison Counties.
