(Hamilton, NY – July 2013) The Partnership for Community Development’s (PCD) Small Business Resource Center (SBRC) workshop, “Closing the Gap: Connecting Local Farmers to Local Businesses,” held on July 17 was a great success.

There were over 30 attendees, which included local farms, restaurants and businesses. Tasty treats were prepared by chefs and proprietors Roger Foster and Charles Wilburn at the Poolville Country Store Restaurant with local ingredients supplied by: Dutch Girl Cheese, Mosher Farms, Fruit of the Fungi, Kriemhild Dairy Farms, Hartwood Farm, Jewett’s Cheese House, Drover Hill Farm and Good Nature Brewing.

Beth McKellips, Director of Agricultural Economic Development at Cornell Cooperative Extension of Madison County, discussed marketing and business development, regional food system logistics, product volume, price points and meeting wholesale industry standards.

The Small Business Resource Center (SRBC) is a resource of the PCD. SBRC workshops are held quarterly unless otherwise announced.
