(Wampsville, NY – Aug. 2013) The Madison County Health Department released the schedule of flu clinics for September. Each year the Department offers a combination of walk-in clinics or clinics by appointment.
“Getting vaccinated against the flu is the best thing to keep your family and yourself healthy from now until the Spring,” said Cheryl Geiler, Director of Community Health at Madison County Health Department.
The first walk-in clinics will be held on:
- September 23rd from 3:30-5:30pm at DeRuyter Central School on Railroad Street in DeRuyter,
- September 24th from 10:30am-12pm at Brookfield Central School on Fairground Road in Brookfield, and
- September 25th from 10am-2pm at the Office for the Aging on Route 5, in Canastota.
Flu vaccinations are also available by appointment Friday’s beginning in October. Make an appointment online anytime, 24-hours a day, at www.healthymadisoncounty.org or call our Flu Schedulers at 366-2848 to make an appointment.
The flu vaccine is recommended for you and anyone 6 months of age or older. As an alternative to the flu shot, the FluMist or nasal spray vaccine is available as a choice for healthy children and teens.
Payment accepted for vaccines includes: Medicare, Medicaid, selected insurance plans, cash, check or credit card. The flu vaccination is $40 and is billable to some insurance plans. Bring your insurance card as coverage will depend on your individual plan. Some fees such as co-pays and deductibles may still apply. For eligible children age 18 and younger, the vaccine may be provided at or below cost and only an administration fee will be charged. Call 366-2848 to find out what insurance the Health Department accepts for flu vaccinations.
