2013-07-27 14.19.44(Town of Sullivan, NY- Sept. 12, 2013) Through the assistance of Cornell Cooperative Extension of Madison and Madison County’s Agricultural Revolving Loan program, Matt Volz of Greyrock Farm is expanding his farm to include farm kitchen and expand his existing farm stand.

2013-07-27 14.11.33Greyrock Farm is located in the town of Sullivan and offers a year-round, diversified Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) share that includes seasonal vegetables and storage crops, grass-fed beef and lamb, pastured pork and chicken, raw milk, and eggs from pastured laying hens.

The funds from the Agricultural Revolving Loan Fund will be used to purchase food processing equipment that will allow the farm to offer products such as pickles, sauerkraut, tomato sauce and other fermented products. The farm kitchen, expected to be ready to use by the end of 2013, will be available for use to Greyrock’s CSA members for canning and processing.

Volz is also working through the insurance and regulation requirements so he can make the kitchen available to other farmers and the greater community. This project is another example of how Madison County’s Agricultural Economic Development program partners with local farmers to not only support their businesses but also build connections between the community and the people that grow our food.

Greyrock’s farm stand is currently open from 2-6 every Friday and next year will expand to 2 days.
