(Oneida, NY- Oct. 18, 2013) State Senator David J. Valesky (D-Oneida) hosted a Senior Information Fair on Oct. 16 at the Kallet Civic Center in Oneida. More than 150 senior citizens attended this free event to speak with experts from local businesses, nonprofits and government agencies.

“On the state level, we create many different programs and initiatives that can help our constituents, especially seniors. This event provides a good way for people to get detailed information about the resources available to them, and I was pleased to see so many senior citizens take advantage of the services offered,” Valesky said.

The fair provided a one-stop shop that included information, resources, and presentations designed to help seniors learn about new services and products available to them. Attendees had the opportunity to speak to experts about the STAR program, EPIC, New York’s new health insurance exchange, energy savings, housing, health care, fitness, medical supplies, and more.
The fair also featured flu shots from Kinney Drugs, health screenings from Oneida Health Support & Lifeline, a constituent services table, and refreshments from Tim Horton’s.

Senator Valesky plans to make the Senior Information Fair an annual event.
