By Jim Goldstein, Lebanon Supervisor

(Town of Lebanon, NY – Oct. 2013) Lebanon Town Board member Steven Wilcox of Billings Hill Road submitted his resignation to the Town Clerk and Secretary of State on Oct. 1, 2013, indicating he is in the process of moving to Oxford regarding a new business endeavor. He thanked the town board for the opportunity to serve but said his resignation was based on his feelings that since he would not be living in the township next year, he did not feel it appropriate to vote on town budget or spending matters for 2014.

Wilcox has served as a town councilor since 2004 and was a strong fiscal conservative while serving as the town’s Chair of the Highway Committee. He assisted the town on equipment and road issues and will be missed.

Mr. Wilcox was a strong supporter of a proposed road use law in the township utilizing Delta Engineering prior to his resignation.

The Town of Lebanon Town Board thanks him for his years of service to the community.

The position will remain vacant awaiting the outcome of the Nov. 5 election in which there are four candidates for two town board council seats, one which is open as Mr. Wilcox did not seek re-election.

This will require that any resolution that has to be adopted by the town board will require 3 of 4 votes until a new town board assembles in January.

I encourage all registered voters and residents in the township to get to know the four candidates and participate in the fall election.
