(Chittenango, NY – Dec. 26, 2013) The Sullivan Food Cupboard provided more than 250 Christmas baskets to residents in the town of Sullivan. This effort was supported by Delphia’s Restaurant, A kick-off dinner was held Dec. 9 at Delphia’s with all proceeds going to the Christmas basket fund. This is the third year the restaurant has donated all proceeds to the cupboard.
Local organizations such as the Chittenango Lions Club, the Rotary Club, Boy Scouts, area churches and many individuals contributed to this effort.
The Boy Scouts conducted a food drive.
Beth Zecher’s “Zumba” class at Bolivar School held a “Zumbathon” to collect food for the cupboard.
Chittenango Central School collected food and toys in all buildings. These were delivered to the fire house by the maintenance department of the school district. The collected contributions were stored in the Chittenango self-storage units through a donation by Kathleen Nyulassy, operations manager for Crouse.
The baskets for families were picked up at North Chittenango Fire House on Dec. 21, while baskets for senior citizens and those with disabilities were delivered from the town of Sullivan Parks & Recreation building. The drivers were from Bridgeport, Manlius Auto Club and individuals from the Chittenango area.
The Sullivan Food Cupboard is an outreach of the Chittenango Area Association of Churches.
