Flood relief 2014 for web

(Oneida, NY – Feb. 2014) Retired teachers from the Madison County Retired Teachers’ Association presented winter clothing to the Willard Prior Elementary School. Madison, Oneida, and Herkimer counties each received checks for flood relief victims, which were collected from the 10 zones of the New York State Retired Teachers’ Association.

Janice Hedglon, co-coordinator of Community Services for both the county teachers and the Central Zone of NYSRTA met with the assistant superintendent of Oneida School district. They decided the best use of the money would be for elementary students at Williard Prior Elementary in Oneida. Nurse Melissa Ball suggested items that were most needed and would oversee the distribution.

Sweat pants, hooded sweat shirts, snow pants, thermal underwear, socks, hats, and gloves were purchased at the Oneida Wal-mart by Hedglon and MCRTA president Gwynne Bodle. Wal-Mart manager, Jim Breed, donated a $50 gift certificate to be used as needed.
