(Town of Lebanon, NY – April 2014) The Lebanon Town Board has set Saturday, April 26, from 9 a.m. to noon as town clean-up day. Supervisor James Goldstein said the event during the past two years has had substantial interest and participation by residents.

Madison County Department of Solid Waste and Sanitation has authorized each town and village to have free disposal of up to 25 tons of waste annually

The Madison County Department of Solid Waste will provide two dumpsters for each roadside cleanup event and will pick up the full dumpster and transport the dumped materials to the county landfill for road garbage and furniture items at no cost to the town or its residents. The event will also feature local recycling of eligible items for town residents at landfill costs without the additional expense of having to transport the items to the county landfill or transfer station for recycling.

The event is restricted to residents only, no businesses, per county policy; no hazardous materials will be collected during Clean-Up Day. Each resident may drop off up to two clear garbage bags filled with roadside trash and two pieces of used furniture, and farmers may drop off ag plastic in the appropriate designated dumpster.

Change in Code Enforcement Policy Began April 1

One of the many roles of the Town Board is to help maintain residential property values through monitoring compliance of the Land Management Local Law of the Town of Lebanon and the Property Maintenance Code of the State of New York.

The Lebanon Town Board wishes to help property owners bring their properties into compliance in a collaborative and cooperative manner through the Code Enforcement office.

Information on local laws and codes can be obtained by viewing the town website, townoflebanon.org as well as contact information and copies of permits.

The Lebanon Town Board is asking the Code Enforcement Officer to travel all the roads of the Town of Lebanon on a regular basis to review residential properties for compliance with local and state codes. This will be limited to what violations the Code Enforcement Officer can view from the road that are visible and noticeable.

Beginning in April, Code Enforcement Officer Donald Forth will be travelling all the roads within Town limits. Once the road tour is complete, letters will be sent out to property owners where it was noted that there is a violation of the local or state codes. The letter will include the specific code violation that will need to be corrected and a request for a meeting to discuss the current status of the violation, and to create a timeline for bringing the property into compliance.

The Lebanon Town Board is requesting that property owners take this notice as an opportunity to review their property and where necessary, attend to potential violations.

If residents have questions, they should contact the Town Office at 837-4220 or contact CEO Forth on his cell phone, 315-750-6299. CEO Forth holds office hours on Tuesday evenings, 5 pm to 8 pm and Thursday mornings, 7 am to 10 am.

Please call to schedule an appointment in the event that CEO Forth is out on an inspection.
