Donated to Oneida Healthcare Auxiliary
(Canastota, NY – May 2014) On Friday, April 11 the Canastota Library Knitters donated spring-colored scarves to Oneida Healthcare Center Auxiliary Board member Lynda Cole. The scarves were made with small pockets at their ends and will be given to patients at the Extended Care Facility.
The knitters are very excited about this new reoccurring donation that they will be offering for the Oneida Healthcare Auxiliary. About 100 scarves were in the initial donation. The knitters also donate baby hats to the Auxiliary for newborns.
The Canastota Public Library Knitting Group began in early February of 2008. The group of almost twenty knitters meets every Friday at the Canastota Public Library in the Lawson Community Room on the library’s lower level.
A Second Knitting Group which meets on Thursday evenings at the library began a few years later. The Knitting Groups work on projects for other local not-for-profit agencies including making mittens and hats for the Opportunity Shop and Head Start, blankets for cats at Wanderer’s Rest.
The group is open to the public and welcomes new and experienced knitters and crafters to every meeting. The Morning Knitting Group meets each Friday morning from 10 a.m. until noon. The Evening Group meets each Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m.
The library is located at 102 W. Center Street in Canastota.
