(Munnsville, NY – July 2014) On Aug. 1 through 3, the Stockbridge Valley Ruritans, in conjunction with the Munnsville American Legion and Munnsville Fire Department, will host its annual community fair and Gravity Fest. Events will be held at Carlon Field/Love Memorial Park, the Munnsville Fire Department and the American Legion on the West Hill.
The line-up is as follows:
Friday, Aug. 1: The parade steps off at 7 p.m. There will be food tents, crafts and vendors, a Gravity Fest meet-and-greet after the parade at Carlon Field. At 8 p.m., the Canastota Community Band will perform at Carlon Field with fireworks at dusk.
Saturday, Aug. 2: At 8 a.m., registration begins for the two-on-two basketball and kickball tournaments. Play begins at 9 a.m. at Carlon Field. The Community Fair begins in earnest at 10 a.m. The Firemen’s Push Ball Tournament begins at 11 a.m. at St. Theresa Church parking lot. Kids pay $5 for a day full of inflatables fun. Food tents and crafters and vendors will continue. The chicken barbeque begins at noon and runs until sold out. The open car show – antique, classic, truck and motorcycles – will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Munnsville Fire Department. The Gravity Fest qualifying heats will run from noon to 5 p.m., there will be a kiddie tractor pull from 3 to 5 p.m. and B104.7 will be on site. There will also be an antique tractor display and pull.
Activities wrap up Sunday, Aug. 3, with Gravity Fest finals taking place on East Hill from noon to 5 p.m.
Organizers report additional activities and events are being added daily and that there will be plenty of parking at Stockbridge Valley Central School. Shuttle buses will travel to all events throughout the weekend, with stops at Carlon Field, Gravity Fest, the car show and pushball tournament.
