(Canastota, NY – July 2014) Fifth through eighth graders are invited to join the Great Swamp Conservancy for an evening of fun Aug. 5 at 6:30 p.m.
The program will be held rain or shine, although if weather permits there will be a nature hike, as well as crafts, and some games.
The nature hike is expected to be an eye opening experience. Also, it’s not a long trek, so it won’t be a hassle in the heat. During the hike the children will be introduced on how to see the world differently and just how important it is to keep every single aspect of an ecosystem safe.
If it rains there will be a slide show of what would be taught during the walk.
There will be a craft to do so your child will have something to show. A couple of games will be played that will reiterate the topics learned in an active and fun fashion.
Through these activities your child will be taught the importance of biodiversity and preserving nature.
It’s free of charge and will only take about an hour and a half.
The GSC is located at 8375 North Main Street, Canastota.
