(Brookfield, NY – Aug. 2014) We are making headway this year and getting a good reputation for beginner / family friendly shows.
We had a great turnout for the Madison County Fair “Youth” Horse Show with more than 45 riders and horses. The $5 fee, covering the full day schedule of classes, was an attraction and a good starter show for young riders. Under threat of major storms, the Open Show attendance was down, but weather held off long enough to complete the entire card of classes including an exciting round of gymkhana games.
Part of our club’s mission is to promote local family friendly shows for the beginner rider and green horse first time shows. Based on positive feedback, we will continue to split youth classes into two Divisions: “11 and under” and “12 – 17”; and continue the “Special” Walk Trot Canter Division for riders who are in the early stage of showing at W-T-C.
We are holding several dressage events for riders of all disciplines: English, Western and Trail Riders and Jumpers. Our upcoming Aug. 30 “Fun” Show is a great introduction to Dressage for riders of all disciplines and levels. Minimum number of riders needed to be signed up by Aug. 15.
Club President Karen Nowak has started a website that we’ve all been waiting for: an online calendar of horse show and equine events here in CNY has been started by Nowak, club President.
