Democrat Seeks 22nd District Congressional Seat
(Oneida, NY – Oct. 2014) Robert Mann, a Democratic Party activist in Oneida, has announced he is running for Congress in New York’s 22nd Congressional District as a write-in candidate.
Mann says he is running for Congress because “someone needs to step forward and offer voters a competitive ‘American style’ election, instead of the dismal situation we face – a one-party election in a one-party district.”
“We need a competitive two-party election, in which different points of view are heard,” Mann said. “By running as a write-in candidate, I want to demonstrate that we Americans still have free elections and are free to exercise our right to choose our own representatives.
“I stand for the progressive programs and policies, like consumer financial protection, Social Security, Medicare and affordable health care, that help the American middle class and working-class poor. I stand against those who seek to destroy these programs and policies.
“Like most people, I am against war, especially war involving uncertain and unreliable allies in parts of the world we do not understand. I do recognize our duty to protect and defend the lives of innocent Americans.”
Mann is a retired technical editor and writer and full-time care-giver who worked as a manuscript editor and developmental editor for W. H. Freeman and Company (an affiliate of Scientific American) in San Francisco.
