GSC logo high res(Town of Lenox, NY – Feb. 2015) Saturdays Feb. 7 through March 7 the Great Swamp Conservancy Museum Exhibit, Winter Exhibit will open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.  Other times may be made by appointment.

Inside the museum visitors may enjoy interactive educational projects. How do birds, deer and other local animals stay warm in winter? Who made those tracks? Go on a snow flea safari outside beginning at 2 pm. The event is geared for children ages 5 t0 12. Donations appreciated.

Feb. 7: Swamp Snappers Camera Club meets at 1 p.m. in the Museum Barn. All ages welcome; any level of experience, cameras from phones to high tech digitals. Come enjoy the art of photography.

Feb. 14:  Winter Hibernation Festival takes place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with Birds of Prey featuring owls this year presented by Cindy Page, wildlife rehabilitator; indoor and outside games; crafts; educational exhibits; become a Winter Wildlife Detective; search for the GSC medallion for a monetary prize; hot foods; Valentine photos by the Camera Club members; cross country skiing and snow showing if weather permits; marshmallow roast; tug of war; and sledding, fun for the entire family. A suggested donation of $3 adults; children admit free.

Feb 14: Visit the GSC Gardners’ booth in the museum while at the winter festival. They meet each month on the second Saturday. Offering the GROWUMS Herb Garden as a fundraiser, they are busy planning the care and changes to t he GSC gardens for the coming spring.

Feb. 21: GSC Bird Club meets at 1 p.m. in the Museum Barn. This month there will be a special presentation about Snowy Owls, field work and ebird participation.

Feb. 28: Trekkers Club  – Take advantage of trails for cross country skiing , weather permitting; discussions about trail upkeep and maintenance, signage and more.
