The President’s List includes 845 students who achieved a grade-point average of 3.75 or higher (of a possible 4.00). To be eligible for these honors, full-time students must have successfully completed 12 or more attempted hours; and part-time students must have successfully completed 6 attempted hours.

MVCC inducts students into Phi Theta Kappa

Class of Spring 2015 MVCCThere were 97 students from Mohawk Valley Community College inducted into the Lambda Beta Chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society recently during a ceremony held in the Schafer Theater on the Utica Campus. Phi Theta Kappa is the International Honor Society for two-year colleges and the largest honor society in American higher education.

MVCC has inducted more than 10,000 students into the honor society since its founding in 1960.

On hand to celebrate the accomplishments of these students were College President Randall J. VanWagoner, Ph.D., Maryrose Eannace, vice president of Academic Affairs, and keynote speaker Lewis Kahler, dean of the Center for Arts and Humanities.

Welcoming the new inductees were Amy LaLone, Chapter President; Andrew Edwards, Chapter Vice President of Fellowship; Ann Marie Mesick, Chapter Vice President of Scholarship; and Jennifer Rothrock, Chapter Vice President of Service.

Membership in Phi Theta Kappa is offered to students who have a 3.5 GPA or higher with at least 12 credit hours in a degree program.

Silfer named to University of Iowa President’s List

Jessy Silfer, a native of Cazenovia was named to the University of Iowa President’s List for the 2014 fall semester.

The President’s List was established in the fall of 1983 to recognize academic excellence. In order to be included on the list, a student must have a minimum 4.0 grade point average (4.0 is an A) in all academic subjects for the preceding two semesters, with a total of at least 12 semester hours of credit per semester during that period.
