MVCC Announces December Grads

On Dec. 19, 2014, Mohawk Valley Community College held its December Commencement Ceremony on the Utica Campus.

The graduates will transfer to other colleges and universities across New York and the country; seek employment in a career related to their studies; or pursue other career and life objectives with their new MVCC degrees and certificates.

MVCC President Randall VanWagoner, Ph.D., presided over the ceremony with the Board of Trustees, presented by Chair David L. Mathis. John Bul Dau, one of the storied “Lost Boys of Sudan,” gave the Commencement address. Maryrose Eannace, Ph.D., Vice President for Learning and Academic Affairs, presented the Candidates for Degrees and Certificates.

Elmira College released its Dean’s List for Academic Achievement for the fall 2014 term. The Dean’s List recognizes students that have a grade point average of 3.6 or higher.

Area Student Named to Dean’s List

The College of Saint Rose in Albany announced that 814 students have been named to the Dean’s List for the fall 2014 semester.

Full-time students who complete a minimum of 12 credit hours and achieve a semester grade-point average of at least 3.5 with no grades of D, F, Incomplete or Pass/Fail are eligible for the Dean’s List.

Bartlett Earns Honorable Mention at American Mock Trial Tournament

Adele Bartlett of Cazenovia and a member of the Ithaca College Mock Trial Team, participated in and earned honorable mention in the 2015 American Mock Trial Association (AMTA) Northeast regional tournament.

Part of Team A, Bartlett is a junior television-radio major in the Roy H. Park School of Communications.

The IC Mock Trial A team finished 4-3-1 at the tournament, placing behind teams from Rutgers, Harvard, Yale, Cornell, Brown and the University of Pennsylvania. The B team finished 2-5-1.

Yale University hosted the Northeast regional tournament.

O’Keeffe Selected for Psychology Honorary Society

Bailey J. O’Keeffe of Hamilton has been selected for membership in the St. Lawrence University chapter of Psi Chi, the international psychology honorary society. O’Keeffe attended Hamilton Central School. O’Keeffe is a member of the class of 2016 and is majoring in psychology.

To be eligible for membership, students must have an overall grade-point average (GPA) of at least 3.3, a psychology average of at least 3.4 and be in the top 35 percent of their class.

Inclusion on the Hartwick Dean’s List is an indication of excellent academic work, including the completion of a full course load with at least a 3.5 grade point average based on a 4.0 scale.
