Colgate University Fall 2014 Dean’s Award Recipients

The following students have been recognized for their academic achievement during the Fall 2014 semester at Colgate University.

Mary Beehm, a English major from North Brookfield and a graduate of Brookfield Central School.

Robert Connor, a Political Science major from Cazenovia and a graduate of Cazenovia High School.

.Kellyann Hayes, a English major from Hamilton and a graduate of Eastport South Manor Jr-Sr HS.

Eden Connor, a Mathematics-undeclared major from Cazenovia and a graduate of Cazenovia High School.

Matthew LeGro, a Physics major from Kirkville and a graduate of East Syracuse Minoa Central HS.

Andrew Thompson, a Biochemistry major from Hamilton and a graduate of Hamilton Central School.

The Dean’s Award for academic excellence is awarded to students with a 3.30 or higher term average while enrolled in 3.75 or more course hours.

Palmer Offering Free Help with Income Taxes through Community Program

Stacy Palmer of Hamilton is volunteering through a United Way program to offer free tax return assistance to area residents this tax season.

A total of 39 students from SUNY Oneonta’s School of Economics and Business have become certified by the Internal Revenue Services to help families prepare simple tax forms through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. Residents of Delaware and Otsego counties who earned less than $53,000 in 2014 may be eligible for this free service, which is offered through the United Way of Delaware and Otsego Counties CA$H (Creating Assets, Savings and Hope) program.

 Eaton’s Morris Participates in Internship Study Program

Emerson College student Leigha Morris of Eaton, who’s majoring in Marketing Communication, is participating in the College’s LA Program at Emerson Los Angeles. A senior, Morris secured an internship position for the spring semester at 4223, and will complete the program in April 2015.

The LA Program takes place at the College’s permanent facility, located on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood. Up to 215 students can enroll in the fall and spring semesters. A smaller class is chosen for the summer term. Students who participate in the LA Program gain valuable internship experience, build connections with other students and professionals in their industry, and create a footprint in the local community by participating in community service programs.
