(Oneida, NY – April 2015) Matteo Longhi, Principal Violinist of the Syracuse University Orchestra, will be the guest musician at the First Presbyterian Church of Oneida on Sunday April 19 during the 10 a.m. worship service.

Longhi will accompany the choir in performing the stark and moving “Ani M’a Aminh” – the Jewish prayer that was purportedly sung in the German concentration camps.  “We sing this prayer in honor of Holocaust Remembrance Day (April 16th),” said Virginia Drake, music and choir director for the church.

Holocaust Remembrance is an International Day of Commemoration in memory of the victims of the Holocaust and is centered on the theme “Liberty, Life and the Legacy of the Holocaust Survivors”. This theme marks the 70th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau extermination camp, the end of World War II and the founding of the United Nations.

The public is warmly welcome to attend this special service.

The First Presbyterian Church of Oneida is located at the Corner of Broad and Stone Streets in Oneida and is accessible to those with physical limitations.
