Graduation-cap-green Reifschneider Inducted into Honor Society

(May 2015) Grace Reifschneider of Oneida was recently initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines. Reifschneider is pursuing a degree in Nursing at State University of New York at Plattsburgh.

Reifschneider is among approximately 32,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni to be initiated into Phi Kappa Phi each year. Membership is by invitation and requires nomination and approval by a chapter. Only the top 10 percent of seniors and 7.5 percent of juniors, having at least 72 semester hours, are eligible for membership. Graduate students in the top 10 percent of the number of candidates for graduate degrees may also qualify, as do faculty, professional staff, and alumni who have achieved scholarly distinction.

Cudney named to Dean’s List

Leland Cudney of Cazenovia has been named to the Champlain College Dean’s List for spring 2015. Students who are named to the Dean’s List have achieved a semester grade point average of 3.5 or higher. Cudney is majoring in Game Design.

Hunn Inducted into Music Honor Society

The Pi Kappa Lambda (PKL) National Music Honor Society is pleased to announce that Camen Hunn of Chittenango was recently initiated into the PKL Chapter at Nazareth College.

Pi Kappa Lambda is an honor society, dedicated by its founders to the fostering of scholarly interest in the theoretical and historical aspects of music, and to the stimulation of eminent achievement in performance, composition, the music professions, and research.

Chanatry Earns two Awards at St. Lawrence University

The following student received awards during St. Lawrence University’s Moving-Up Day ceremonies held on April 25 in Canton.

Hannah C. Chanatry of Cazenovia. Chanatry is a member of the Class of 2015 and is majoring in English and performance and communications arts. Chanatry graduated from Cazenovia High School. Chanatry was presented with the Outstanding Beginning Student Prize – Italian, which is awarded to the students in elementary language classes who have not studied the language before and whose performance in the course has been most outstanding.

Chanatry was presented with the Joan M. Fuzak Drama Award, which is given annually to a senior student in performance and communication arts who demonstrates creativity and promise as an actress or ac- tor and who has made a significant contribution to the University community.

Demo Named to Dean’s List

Elmira College released its Dean’s List for Academic Achievement for Term II, 2015. The Dean’s List recognizes students that have a grade point average of 3.6 or higher.

Included was Brian Demo of Cazenovia.
