Oneida Rail Trail(Oneida, NY – May 2015) The Oneida Rail Trail Committee is sponsoring an ORT work day on Saturday, May 30 from 9 a.m. to noon.

The work will concentrate on the storm water detention ponds along the former West Shore Division/Oneida Railway Company rail bed behind Hunt Valley Road and Willow Meadow Way.   Volunteers are asked meet at the Hunt Valley Road access road.  There is street parking.  Please do not block resident’s driveways.  Wear sturdy shoes, long pants, long sleeved shirts, work gloves and bring plenty of water.

This trail work will not only improve aesthetics in the area, but will promote mosquito control.  Work days are scheduled for the last Saturday of the month through September.  For dates and work areas log onto www.improveoneida.com and like our Oneida Rail Trail Facebook page.  The Oneida Rail Trail is a shared project of The Oneida Rail Trail Committee, the City of Oneida, Madison County and the Oneida Improvement Committee.

The Oneida Rail Trail Committee meets the last Thursday of the month at 6 p.m. at the Oneida Recreation Center, 217 Cedar St. in Oneida.  The next ORT meeting is scheduled for Thursday, May 28 at 6 p.m. Meetings are open to the public.

Volunteers are needed for all aspects of trail development.
