(Bouckville, NY – June 2015) Join the Chenango Canal Association for History on the Summit at the Chenango Canal Cottage Museum on Canal Road and Scenic Byway State Route 20, Bouckville June 20 anytime between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. (located across from the Landmark Tavern).
Path Through History is an established state-wide event that consists of many organizations that participate in a focus on local history. On June 20 the Chenango Canal Association offers visitors an ongoing tour of the newly renovated Cottage Museum and history walk along the Towpath Trail.
Many businesses, organizations and individuals contributed support toward the three-year long History on the Summit project that consisted of a complete renovation of the 100 year-old building that is the Canal Cottage Museum; additional unique, vintage photos of local history displayed inside, and “History Happened Here” signs posted along the Towpath Trail, where a short audio history is accessed by scanning the QR code with a smart phone.
“This is our chance to promote the 180 year-old Chenango Canal, educate people on local history from the 19th century and encourage visitors to see what our surrounding community has achieved, says Diane Van Slyke, President of the Chenango Canal Association. “It is also an opportunity to thank our supporters for helping to contribute to the Chenango Canal History on the Summit project.”
Besides tours of the trail and museum, refreshments will be served. For more information, please call Diane Van Slyke at 315-729-8323.
