OHC Oneida Healthcare(Oneida, NY – July 8, 2015) Oneida Healthcare’s main cooling system is back on line, well ahead of schedule.  The hospital had been dealing with uncomfortably warm temperatures since Tuesday afternoon, following a water pipe break that took out the motor for the building’s main chiller unit.

“The new motor arrived this morning from Indiana and we were up and running by 1:30 this afternoon,” said hospital spokesman Mike Healy on Wednesday.  He noted that the maintenance staff had already replaced the pipe and removed the old motor on Tuesday. They acquired the other necessary parts Wednesday morning and began repairs immediately.

He also praised hospital staff for their outstanding efforts to keep patients as comfortable as possible.

“That was our main focus and our whole team has done a great job,” Healy said. “The patients and visitors have been extremely understanding, which we sincerely appreciate.”

Healy explained that the building temperature was expected to be back down to normal levels by Wednesday evening and that they would be completely back to normal operations by Thursday. “That’s a whole day sooner than we originally thought; our people are awesome!” he concluded.
