September 1

OPL Board Meeting

Tuesday at 9:00 a.m.

The Oneida Public Library Board of Trustees will meet in special session onWednesday, September 23, at 5:00 p.m. in the library’s Local History Room. The public is invited to attend.

 

September 7

Labor Day

Monday

Oneida Public Library will be closed Monday, September 7, to celebrate Labor Day. The library will be open as usual on Tuesday, September 8, at 9 a.m.

Tech Help

Wednesday from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m.

Volunteer technical advisors will be on hand to help device and laptop users set up, adapt and get the most out of their devices. No appointment is needed.

Tuesday at 10:00 a.m.

Children up to 2 years old will enjoy rhymes, songs, fingerplay, crafts and stories in an early-literacy program led by Youth Librarian Michele Ryan.

Book Talk: “A Taste of Upstate New York”

Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.

Chuck D’Imperio, author of “Unknown Museums of Upstate New York” and other works on Upstate lore, will introduce his latest book, “A Taste of Upstate New York,” which records the stories behind Upstate’s “iconic” specialty dishes, ranging from Buffalo chicken wings to Saratoga potato chips.

The Monk Rowe Trio

Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.

Acclaimed in Central New York and beyond, the Monk Rowe Trio will perform a free concert dubbed “Jazz, Blues and Songs by Request” at the OPL. The trio features Monk Rowe on saxophone and keyboard, John Hutson on guitar and vocals and Tom McGrath on drums.

Civil Rights Film: Freedom Riders

Thursday at 6:30 p.m.

The OPL hosts the showing of the documentary film “Freedom Riders,” which chronicles the white and black volunteers riding on a bus into the Deep South in 1961 to protest racial discrimination. The film and discussion are part of a Madison County series of programs on America’s civil rights struggle developed by the National Abolition Hall of Fame and sponsored by the National Endowment for the Humanities.
