(Oneida, NY – Sept. 2015) The Madison County Historical Society’s 51st Annual Craft Days will be held Sept. 12 and 13 on the grounds at 435 Main St. in Oneida.
Considered the longest running craft shows in the region, Craft Days will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sept. 12 and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 13.
Admission is $4 for adults; children 12 and under admit free.
The event will feature 103 juried crafters and artisans of edible treats, nine food vendors and four New York wineries. There also will be many handmade items available to purchase.
Crafters will be demonstrating their artistry twice each day from 11 a.m. to noon and again from 1 to 2 p.m.
Juried crafters and artisans of edible treats in this year’s show are from all over New York State and Pennsylvania and will be selling and displaying their paintings, fiber arts, floral, glass fused creations, jewelry, painting and drawings, photography, candles, skin care products, soap, hand forged metal items, pottery, woodworking, mixed media, pet products, fudge, honey, an array of maple products, baked goodies, sourdough breads, and jams and jellies and more.
Food vendors include Promotions Plus Roasted Nuts of Saratoga Springs; Pops’ Kettle Korn of Whitesboro; R & V Concessions of Rome; Cowboy BBQ of Madison; Gypsy Girl Wood Fire Pizza and Catering of Sherrill; Pastry Pantry of Endwell; Coneheads Carribean Ice cream of Canastota; Happy Pasture Farm of Brookfield; and Sweets Icy Treats of Oneida. New this year will be wine sampling at Craft Days from Lakeland Winery of Syracuse and Thousand Islands Winery of Alexandria Bay and Victorianbourg Wine Estate of Wilson and Villa Verona Vineyard of Verona.
Musical entertainment will be provided from 1 to 3 p.m. each day by two returning groups. On Saturday, a small group of the New York State Old Tyme Fiddlers Association known as “The Thistle and the Rose” will present old time Scots-Irish music. On Sunday, Double Chase, led by mother and son, Thelma and Matt Chase will play folk melodies.
There will be free children’s activities throughout the weekend. On Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1p.m. stop by the YMCA of Oneida’s booth for a free leaf rubbing activity for kids. On Saturday and Sunday (all day), stop by the Oneida Rail Trail’s booth for a free children’s craft activity of creating a colorful walking stick.
Visitors can also tour the society’s headquarters, Cottage Lawn, an 1849 Gothic Revival Cottage, during the event between noon and 2 p.m. both days.
No animals are permitted on the grounds, and there is no smoking.
