(Morrisville, NY – Oct,. 2015) Landmarks Day in Morrisville, inaugurated by the Morrisville Historic Preservation Commission some 30 years ago to celebrate the architecture of the village of Morrisville, will take place this year on Saturday Oct. 10 at the Morrisville Engine House and the Morrisville Public Library.
At 10 a.m., in the restored 19th-century Engine House on State Route 20 opposite Madison Hall, members of the commission will present the 2015 Marion H. Taylor Preservation Awards to Audrey Howard and Dennis Sands
Howard is being honored for her many years of dedicated service to the Preservation Commission, the Madison Hall Association and Morrisville Public Library. Sands’ award is in recognition of his heroic work in saving and restoring the Engine House.
Down the block at the Morrisville Public Library at 11 a.m., Village Historian Sue Greenhagen will lead a virtual walking tour of local landmarks. Her presentation will be followed by refreshments.
Also available at the library is a local historic map that visitors can use to follow their own walking tour of historic structures in the village.
