(Oneida, NY – Oct. 2015) The Greater Oneida Chamber of Commerce has named AmeriCU Credit Union its October Business of the Month.
AmeriCU Credit Union is a not-for-profit financial cooperative serving nine counties in Central and Northern New York and is among the largest full-service financial cooperatives in New York State. Started in 1950 on Griffiss Air Force Base, AmeriCU has grown to more than $1 billion in assets with 100,000 members world-wide, including more than 8,000 members in the greater Oneida area.
In addition to providing financial services, AmeriCU is very dedicated to giving back to the greater Oneida community. Employees give hundreds of hours as board members and volunteers, as well as thousands of dollars in contributions for charities, including Wanderers’ Rest, Oneida Healthcare Foundation, Madison County Historical Society, the Oneida Sherrill Lion’s Club, Madison County Office of the Aging, Oneida Area Civic Chorale, Project Café, Friends of Lorenzo, and the Cazenovia Children’s House, as well as the Carol M. Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund, the American Cancer Society, the American Red Cross, the Salvation Army, and the American Heart Association to name just a few. AmeriCU also sponsors a number of community events, including Toys for Tots, Share a Caring Christmas, and the Madison County Hops Festival.
