Weinell earns SUNY Oswego summer research position
Meaghan Weinell of Sherburne, a geology major earned a SUNY Oswego Early Summer Scholars research position this summer as a freshman, funded through the National Science Foundation’s STEM Talent Expansion Program.
The program encourages freshmen and sophomores to stay with majors in science, technology, engineering or mathematics by offering five support programs, one of which is the chance to work with on a faculty member’s summer research project.
Weinell worked with faculty member Diana Boyer on a project titled “Understanding the End Devonian Mass Extinction: Evidence from the Ohio Shale”; she earned a stipend supported by the grant.
Getty Performs with Josh Groban Tour
Twenty vocal music and music theatre students from Nazareth College’s Music and Theatre and Dance departments were selected to sing backup at Josh Groban’s upstate New York tour stops at the Palace Theatre in Albany Saturday, Oct. 3; the Landmark Theatre in Syracuse, Oct. 6 and Shea’s Performing Arts Center in Buffalo Oct. 7.

Owens Employed at Student Restaurant Signatures
Sayde Owens of Brookfield has been named staffer to the student restaurant Signatures located on the SUNY Delhi campus.
The staff is composed of SUNY Delhi students enrolled in Hotel and Resort Management, Restaurant and Food Service Management, and the Culinary Arts program.
Owens is pursuing an associate degree in Hotel and Resort Management.
The Signatures restaurant teaches Delhi students menu preparation, food purchasing, front-of-house management controls, elements of proper table service, and basic food preparation. Students earn credit while learning to operate a restaurant in a practical hands-on experience, working in the college’s contemporary conference center and its fully-equipped professional kitchen. All Signatures meals are prepared by SUNY Delhi’s Culinary Arts students.
