County Seal(Madison County, NY – Nov. 2015) On Nov. 15 the Madison County Department of Solid Waste will celebrate America Recycles Day.  To mark the special day, staff will distribute updated Recycling Guides to Madison County libraries and County Clerk’s offices.  Residents are encouraged to visit their local library, town clerk’s office or the main landfill office on Buyea Road in the Town of Lincoln to pick-up a new guide compliments of the Department of Solid Waste.

“We want residents to be able to access recycling information as easily as possible,” said James A. Zecca, Solid Waste Director.

The updated recycling guide has information on electronics recycling, household hazardous waste and an extensive list of items taken for recycling in Madison County.  Each guide has a handy section for residents to pull out and post in a convenient location at home.  Recycling Guides are also available at the Madison County office building recycling display, near the Department of Motor Vehicles.

Madison County residents should keep in mind we have dual stream recycling; papers in one bin, bottles and cans in another. Unwanted clothing and textiles can also be put in a clear plastic bag and placed curbside with paper recyclables or donated in textile collection bins at the four Madison County transfer stations. These are located in the towns of Sullivan, Cazenovia, Hamilton or at the main landfill site on Buyea Road in the town of Lincoln.

The updated guide answers most questions residents may have about recycling in Madison County.

If you can’t find it in the guide, look on our website at https://www.madisoncounty.ny.gov/solid-waste/home or call our Recycling Hotline at 1-800-721-2208 with questions.
