(Oneida, NY Nov. 28, 2015) The Salvation Army offers help and hope to those in need, all year long, but especially during the holiday season. The traditional Red Kettles at many stores are the main source of fund raising that supports the Salvation Army Oneida Service Unit throughout the year.
But the Salvation Army could use a little help. The Army’s Service Unit in Oneida is in desperate need of more volunteers to ring bells this holiday season.
Volunteers are needed every day, except Sundays, between now and Christmas Eve.
The funds raised in the area stay in the area so the Salvation Army feels it’s really important that they are able to raise enough money to continue offering assistance for the whole year. It’s how they can ‘make change happen’ for those in need in the community.
Last year, in addition to Christmas assistance, the Army was able to help Oneida residents with emergency assistance with rental, utility and fuel assistance, food, lodging, clothing and disaster assistance along with sending children to The Salvation Army’s residential camp on Seneca Lake.
