choir1(Oneida, NY – Dec. 2015) The First Presbyterian Church of Oneida will present the Cantata “The Christmas Light” by Benjamin Harlan on Sunday Dec. 20 at 10 a.m. Under the direction of Amanda Yeoman, and Accompanist Melinda Feldman, the choir of more than 25 vocalists will present this special program during the regular worship service.  Narration will be done by Rev. Stuart Wattles and Michael Yeoman.

According to Yeoman, from the darkness and hope of Advent to the light and joy of Christmas, this cantata captures the varied colors of Christmas in fresh tones. With a blend of classic carols and rich new songs, this cantata literally moves the service from darkness to light, vividly illustrating the hope of Christmas through music and the spoken word which will be narrated by Rev. Stuart Wattles and Michael Yeoman.  The church’s bell choir will also perform during this special service.

In addition to this special service, the church will also be holding two services on Christmas Eve.  The 5 p.m. service is arranged for families with younger children or those who may have later evening Christmas Eve plans.  It will feature special music and messages for the young and young at heart along with candlelight.

The 7 p.m. service is a traditional candlelight service with a full choir along with messages and carols that will provide the joys of the Christmas season.

The First Presbyterian Church of Oneida is located at the Corner of Broad and Stone streets in Oneida and is accessible to the physically challenged.
