(Town of Lebanon, NY – Dec. 2015) Lebanon town officials are seeking a new Code Enforcement Officer after current CEO Lloyd Sutton announced he will not be seeking re-appointment despite the request by Town Board members that they wanted him to continue with the town and were pleased with his performance.

Sutton said he will stay on until the town finds a replacement as he is in the middle of several enforcement actions and investigations.

Lebanon is now seeking a part time Code Enforcement Officer who is certified and familiar with municipal code enforcement. The CEO normally works two days a week- an estimated six hours on average, and earns about $7,300. The town is looking for an experienced CEO who is familiar with dealing with a rural community like Lebanon including its Amish population. The CEO has the ability to set his or her schedule.

Town officials are also seeking two planning board members, one regular member to serve a full five year term and one Alternate. Regular member Donald Harvey is not seeking to be reappointed to his position on the board (we thank him for his service) and living historical legend Carolyn Hartshorn has decided to discontinue serving as an alternate after many years of government service. (She has been a tremendous source of history of the town dating back many decades.)

Town board members are seeking residents who are interested in serving on the planning board, which meets monthly, the third Monday of the month. Planning board members consider permitting development or business proposals, special use permits, subdivisions, splits and are also required to review and recommend any proposed changes to the Land Management Local Law. Planning Board members play an important role in the economic, agricultural, environmental and social development of the township. They are guided by portions of the Land Management Local Law and Subdivision Law which can be found on line at townoflebanon.org.

Interested parties are asked to contact Supervisor Jim Goldstein at (315) 837-4152 or email him at Lebanon@citlink.net.

In other town board action on Dec. 14, town officials amended the town budget due to finalizing ambulance contracts and moving forward with renewing its Certificate of Need for ambulance service for the township.

Town board members voted to establish ambulance contracts with SOMAC for the Earlville and Hamilton fire contract, Georgetown Ambulance for the Georgetown fire contract area and Eaton Ambulance for the Eaton Fire and Ambulance contract area.  Town officials also reaffirmed its ownership and maintenance of Keefe Road as a town road at state request and renewed electricity contracts with MEGA/Constellation for 18 months estimated to save the town over $400. The Time Warner Cable contract will be ready for approval next year.

Town officials also reappointed Jack King to the Assessment Board of Review and affirmed the prior appointment of Jacob Miller to that body the prior year.

The Lebanon Town Board will gather for its organizational meeting Jan. 11 at 7:30 p.m.
