Two Charged with Manufacturing Meth
(Town of Lincoln, NY – Dec. 24, 2015) The Madison County Sheriff’s Narcotics Investigators shut down what is being described as a major meth operation Christmas Eve on Cottons Road in the Madison County town of Lincoln.
Undercover investigators had the residence, located at 3268 Cottons Road under surveillance when they witnessed suspicious activity taking place outside the residence. After brief observation, and with the assistance of uniformed Deputies and the State Police, two subjects were detained for questioning.
The two subjects, Jonathan J. Brown, 31, of Canastota, and Angela Kirsch, 29, also of Canastota, were interviewed by investigators. Brown and Kirsch have been charged with one count each of third-degree Unlawful Manufacture of Methamphetamine (D Felony) and Unlawful Disposal of a Meth Lab (E Felony).
Brown was also charged with one count of seventh-degree Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance (A Misdemeanor). Both were arraigned today in the Town of Lincoln Court and remanded to the Madison County Jail on $50,000 cash/$50,000 bond. Additional charges are forthcoming against both.
Sheriff’s Office investigators, deputies and evidence technicians, in addition to the State Police Contaminated Crime Scene Emergency Response Team (CCSERT) responded to the scene, where they remained until earlier this afternoon processing the lab and making the area safe.
Sheriff Allen Riley labeled this as “a major operation and clearly one of the largest meth labs this County has come across.” 124 “one-pot” bottles, a substantial amount of finished methamphetamine, precursors used in the manufacturing of meth, marijuana, and firearms were located and have been seized.
In addition to Sheriff’s Investigators, Deputies and the State Police, Lincoln Fire Department, NYS Department of Environmental Conservation Spill Response and Environmental Conservation Police, along with the Town of Lincoln Codes Enforcement Officer responded and assisted.
The Town of Lincoln Codes Enforcement Officer has issued an “Order to Vacate” for the two affected apartments at the Cottons Road location.
The investigation continues.
State Police Participate in Drive to Save Lives Campaign
(Dec. 2015) The New York State Police will join law enforcement officials in 14 other states in an effort to keep one of the country’s most highly-traveled interstates, I-95, safe and fatality-free. The initiative will take place through Dec. 31.
The six-day effort is aimed at saving lives by cracking down on dangerous driving offenses. Troopers and law enforcement along the I-95 corridor will be focusing on seat belt and safety restraint use, speeding, impaired driving, and distracted driving.
I-95 is a major travel route along the East Coast, and the Christmas to New Year’s holiday season is among the busiest long-distance travel period of the year. More than 33,000 deaths occur each year on our nation’s roadways, making highway fatalities rank as one of the top 12 causes of death in the United States and it is the leading cause of death among teens. Most crashes are preventable.
New York State Police Superintendent Joseph A. D’Amico said, “Impaired, distracted and aggressive driving are all poor choices that too often result in injury and death on our highways. Traffic safety is a top priority for the New York State Police, and we will be very visible on I-95 and other state highways, watching for those who choose to break the law. We encourage all drivers to make smart choices and make the roads safe for everyone who is traveling this holiday season.”
The 15 states participating in the challenge are:
• New York
• Florida
• Georgia
• South Carolina
• North Carolina
• Virginia
• Maryland
• Delaware
• Pennsylvania
• New Jersey
• Connecticut
• Rhode Island
• Massachusetts
• New Hampshire
