(Canastota, NY – Jan. 2016) Hope Christian Fellowship would like to extend an invitation to the general public to attend a special free film event. This month’s family movie, “War Room,” explores the transformational role prayer plays in the lives of a family. It will be shown at the church’s storefront located at 119 South Peterboro St. Saturday Jan. 16 at 6 p.m.
“War Room” follows Tony and Elizabeth Jordan, a middle-class couple who seemingly have it all – great jobs, a beautiful daughter, their dream home. But appearances can be deceiving. In reality, the Jordan’s marriage has become a war zone and their daughter is collateral damage.
With the help of Miss Clara, an older and wiser woman, Elizabeth discovers she can start fighting for her family instead of against them. Through a newly energized faith, Elizabeth and Tony’s real enemy doesn’t have a prayer.
“War Room” is the fifth film from Alex and Stephen Kendrick (“Fireproof,” “Courageous,” “Facing the Giants,” and “Flywheel”). It features New York Times best-selling author and Bible teacher Priscilla Shirer in her film debut.
On the subsequent five Thursday evenings (Jan. 21 and 28, and Feb. 4, 11 and 18) beginning at 6:30 p.m., the public is invited to attend a study series featuring film clips from the “War Room” and based on topics raised in the film. Topics include Lukewarm-ness, Accountability, Gospel and Grace, Spiritual Warfare, and Prayer.
There is no admission charge to attend either the film showing or the small group study.
