Sarah Gabor was one of 13 WPI field hockey student-athletes to be honored for their work inside the classroom by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association.
Paced by four-year honorees, Abby Cervelloni and Lauren Puishys, the WPI field hockey team totaled 13 student-athletes achieving NFHCA National Academic Squad honors en route to National Academic Team honors for the 12th consecutive season. The 13 also included junior Hope Shevchuk, a three-time Scholar of Distinction.
SarahRose Gabor was the only other three-time selection while senior Caroline Mazzola, senior Shannon Rice, junior Allie Buckley, sophomore Izzy Garver, and sophomore Sabrina Guzzi were lauded for the second time.
Senior Grace Davis and sophomore Amanda Richards claimed the award for the first time as did freshmen Carrie Pozaic and Zoe Schwartz.
The National Academic Squad recognizes those student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher through the first semester of the 2015-16 academic year while the Scholars of Distinction have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.90 or higher through the first semester of the 2015-16 academic year.
The National Academic Team Award recognizes those institutions that achieved a minimum Team GPA of 3.0 during the first semester of the 2015-16 academic year.
