The New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation in Lafayette have charged Halima J. St. Louis, 33, of 201 West Yates St., Apt. 3, East Syracuse, with second-degree assault, a class D felony and endangering the welfare of a child, a class A misdemeanor.
St. Louis is accused of intentionally burning her 4-year-old child with a hair straightening iron and whipping him with a leather belt. The 4-year-old sustained injuries to his arm and stomach. St. Louis was arraigned in the Dewitt Town Court and committed to the Onondaga County Justice Center on the bail amount of $10,000 cash or $15,000 bond.
