On Wednesday May 4th from 12:10 pm until 12:50 pm the Cortland County Historical Society will host a “Lunch and Learn” session.  Bring an lunch and enjoy author Toni Colella presents “Theodore W. On Saturday May 7th at 1:00 pm the Oneida County Historical Society will host a special screening of the film Selma, which special guest Patricia MacLean.  MacLean, a resident of Holland Patent, will give a brief introduction sharing her personal experiences from the march and the civil rights movement.  The move chronicles “Martin Luther King’s campaign to secure equal voting rights via an epic march from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama in 1965.”  There is no charge for this event.  For more information please call 315-735-3642 or visitwww.oneidacountyhistory.org.

On Friday May 13th at 6:30 pm the Morrisville Public Library welcomes Jim Ford who will present on Grove Hinman.  Come and learn about one Madison County’s most notorious residents.  Ford has published a book on Hinman’s history utilizing photos, newspaper clippings and firsthand accounts to show Hinman’s impact on our local community.  There is no charge for this event. On Saturday May 14th, starting at 10:30 am, the Town of Madison Historical Society will host a chicken barbecue.  For just $10 you get outdoor barbecued chicken, salt potatoes, baked beans a roll and desert.  All proceeds benefit the Town of Madison Historical Society.  The barbecue will continue until its sold out.  For more information please call 315-729-8323.

On Saturday May 14th at 1:00 pm the Oneida County Historical Society will host a book signing with author H. Russel Eastman.  Eastman will be signing copies of his book From Good Luck Farm, which tells the story of growing up in the early 20th century on a dairy farm near Waterville, NY.  The author will share his personal memories, insight regarding local historic events and little known facts about George Eastman, founder of Eastman Kodak and one of the author’s ancestor’s.  There is no charge for this event.  For more information please call 315-735-3642 or visit www.oneidacountyhistory.org.

On Saturday May 14th, at 2 pm, the Town of Madison Historical Society will host “Madison Foremothers:  Wives and Wanders.”  Come and hear about some of Madison’s most important women.  After the talk Ford will leave a tour of the Madison Village Cemetery behind the Historical Society.  There is no charge for this event.  For more information please call 315-729-8323.

On Wednesday May 18th at 7:00 pm the Town of Onondaga Historical Society welcomes Village of Morrisville Historian Sue Greenhagen to speak. Greenhagen will present “Live Oaks & MORE Dead Folks, a virtual tour of Oakwood Cemetery.”  This is the second series of virtual tours that Greenhagen has done and will feature stories and tales of some of the most prominent residents of Syracuse’s most historic cemetery.  The meeting is at the Town of Onondaga Hall, and there is no charge for this event.  Light refreshments will be served.  For more information please visit www.onondagatownhist.org.

On Saturday May 21st from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm the Reformed Church of Owasco will host the “Five W’s of Historical Records by Russel L. On Saturday May 21st at 10:30 am the Oneida Community Mansion House will have a special presentation by Pody Vanderwall on the folk art of Jessie Catherine Kinsley. Vanderwall, the great-granddaughter of Kinsely, will present an illustrated history of the items on display and in the collections of the Mansion House in the Big Hall.  Following the presentation will be a walking tour of the Mansion House nature trails.  Admission for the event is $5 for members and $7 for non-members.  To register in advance or for more information please  call 315-363-0745.

On Sunday May 22nd, the Historic Oakwood Cemetery Preservation will host a special tour entitled “Spring has Sprung” by Don Leopold.  Leopold will walk attendees through a special spring tour which highlights the beauty and landscape of the cemetery.  The tour will start at the Chapel on the west side of the cemetery.  Tours are given rain or shine but cancelled for thunder/lighting.  There is no cost for the event but donations are accepted.  For more information please call Sue Greenhagen at 315-684-3418.

On Monday May 23rd at 5:30 pm the Hamilton Public Library will host a special evening with WWII Veteran Stan Davis.  Davis was a Staff Sergeant in the US Army Air Corps in the European Theatre during WWII. He served as a Crew Chief on P47 style planes as well serving as an engineer on C47 transport planes.  He also was an amateur photographer who took over 700 photos of his time overseas.  Madison County Historian Matthew Urtz recently digitized these images and will feature a number of these images as part of the talk.  Davis will talk about his experiences and the photos.  There is no charge for this event.  For more information please contact 315-824-3060.

From June 1st until July 15th the National Abolitionist Hall of Fame and Museum will host a special Changing American Exhibit entitled “Emancipation Proclamation 1863 and the March on Washington 1963.”  This special traveling display will only be available for viewing during the month of June during the weekend hours of 1-4 pm and for special events.  For more information please visit www.nationalabolitionhalloffameandmuseum.org/.

On Friday June 3rd from 8:00 am to 4 pm the Oneida Community Mansion House presents “Practical Preservation:  Masonry, Roofing and Windows, Oh My!  Preservation experts from Crawford and Stearns, Jerome R. Durr Studio, Lupini Construction, Bell & Spina and Lorenzo State Historic Site will address practical matters of preservation for historic sites and homes.  Cornell Universities Historic Preservation Director Michael Tomlan, Ph.D., will present “Historic Preservation:  Caring for Our Expanding Legacy” during lunch.  Reservations to the event are $100 and include a continental breakfast, lunch and a guided tour of the Mansion House following the conference.  To make your reservations or for more information please call 315-363-0745.

On Sunday June 19th from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm the MG Car Club of Central New York will host the 13th annual Eurocar European Motorcar and Motorbike Show at the Lorenzo State Historic Park in Cazenovia.  The show is the largest European car and motorbike event in central new York.  Dash plaques will be provided to the first 200 entrants.  Entrant Door prizes, music and food vendors as well.  Spectators can come for free.  For more information please visithttp://cny.mgcarclub.com.

On Saturday June 25th at 2:00 pm the National Abolitionist Hall of Fame will host two special presentations.  Ary J. Lamme PhD will present “Spaces of Enslavement/Spaces of Freedom” followed by Norman K. On Sunday June 26th, the Historic Oakwood Cemetery Preservation will host a special tour entitled “Iconography of Death:  Funeral Signs and Symbols of Oakwood” Sue Greenhagen.  Greenhagen will lead the tour highlighting how headstones and monuments are often a story unto themselves.  The tour will start at the Chapel on the west side of the cemetery.  Tours are given rain or shine but cancelled for thunder/lighting.  There is no cost for the event but donations are accepted.  For more information please call Sue Greenhagen at 315-684-3418.
