Children ages 6-14 are invited to join Museum Educators Pat Hill and Julia Shotzberger at the Cazenovia Public Library on Saturday, May 21st from 1:00-2:30 pm, for “Curious Kids Create.”
What do Thomas Jefferson, Joseph Cornell, P.T. Barnum, and Sir Francis Bacon have in common? Each was the proud owner of a cabinet of curiosities. For millennia, people have collected and stored objects of interest. In this program we will trace the history of curiosity cabinets, visit the Library’s new WonderCabinet exhibit, and create our own curiosity cabinets. Participants will be provided with a box, a wide variety of natural materials, and ample time to create a miniature “cabinet.” In addition to the provided materials, children are encouraged to bring additional items from home. Objects may include natural materials or treasures from the junk drawer!
Please join us for this fun and informative program! Children ages 8 & under should be accompanied by an adult. Class size is limited to ensure program quality, so sign up ASAP by calling the Library at 655-9322.
