Mayor Robert Palmieri today announced the sale of the former Matt Petroleum site on Leland Avenue to Riccelli Northern, contingent upon approval from the Common Council.
Riccelli Northern, based out of the Syracuse area, purchased the property for $60,000 and plans to invest $2.5 million to construct a concrete and blacktop plant, which is projected to create 30 new jobs.
The construction of the plant will also increase sales tax revenue for the city.
Mayor Palmieri stated, “Riccelli Northern is a very reputable company, and we are excited about the positive impact this project will have in our City,” Palmieri said. “I thank Rich for expanding and growing his business in Utica.”
“We are delighted as we are enthusiastic, by the possibilities that enlightened leadership, situated in a robust economic business environment may have on the local community and the region as a whole,” said Riccelli Northern President Richard Riccelli. “We strongly believe that our desire to build these specific plant facilities in the City of Utica is a logical extension of not only those key & positive attributes, but it is also in harmony with our corporate mission to ultimately employ 1,000 people and to make our company a better place to work for the people that live here.”
