On June 16, at approximately 10:22 p.m., State Police stopped a vehicle on I-90 for multiple traffic violations after being reported as an erratic operator. The driver of the vehicle,Michael E. Filim, 36, of Buffalo, was found to be impaired by drugs and in possession of an Alprazolam* pill. He was transported and processed at SP Buffalo where he was evaluated by a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE). Filim refused to submit to a blood draw to determine the drug content in his system and was subsequently charged with:
- Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs; a Misdemeanor
- Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree; a Class A Misdemeanor
- Multiple Vehicle and Traffic Violations
Filim was turned over to a sober third party and released on appearance tickets returnable to the Town of Brant Court on July 21, at 6 p.m.
*Alprazolam is used to treat anxiety and is a Schedule IV Controlled Substance, commonly known as Xanax.
