Los Angeles Grammy-nominated duo The Milk Carton Kids – the two guitar/two voice singularity of Joey Ryan and Kenneth Pattengale –will be coming to the Earlville Opera House on Tuesday, July 12 in continued support of their critically acclaimed release Monterey. Monterey joins their two previous albums in receiving great early acclaim, building on the understated acoustic artistry and virtuosic harmonies that define The Milk Carton Kids.
The Milk Carton Kids perform on one microphone stage center. They huddle around the microphone with their two voices and two acoustic guitars with simple white light in front of their seated crowd. Their intimate performance interspersed with witty banter has established The Milk Carton Kids’ live performance as one all its own.
The duo is touring in support of their acclaimed album Monterey released in May of last year. The album was recorded on stages of concert halls, churches, and theaters across North America in a process that allowed the band to perform with the same fearlessness and spontaneity usually only achieved in concert.
Recently it was announced that the duo once again been nominated as Duo/Group of the Year from The Americana Music Association’s 15th Annual Honors & Awards. The winners will be announced during the live show onSeptember 21st at the Historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, TN. The Milk Carton Kids won the category in 2014.
Last year The Milk Carton Kids received their second Grammy nomination, this time in the Best American Roots Performance category for their song “The City of Our Lady” from their third album Monterey. The duo was previously nominated for Best Folk Album in 2013 for their album The Ash & Clay.
In addition, the duo recently made their acting debut in Episode 3 of Martin Scorsese, Mick Jagger and Terence Winter’s new HBO drama “Vinyl” as soft rock duo England Dan and John Ford Coley performing the seventies classic “Simone”.
