Spinner, JamesOn June 16, at approximately 2 p.m., State Police in Lafayette responded to a possible burglary in progress call at a residence on Gates Road in the Town of Pompey, Onondaga County.

As troopers arrived in the area, a relative of the complainant identified a possible suspect who was seen breaking into houses in the area. Troopers then observed the suspect vehicle exit a driveway and travel northbound on Gates Road. When they attempted to stop the vehicle, the operator refused to stop.

The suspect vehicle continued onto North Burdick Street where he came upon a construction zone and crashed into an unfinished section of pavement in the roadway, causing property damage only to his vehicle with no injury. The suspect then ran from the vehicle but was taken immediately into custody without incident.

The suspect, identified as James D. Spinner, 29, from Wolcott Avenue Syracuse, was charged with the following:

  • Burglary 2nd degree, a class “C” felony
  • Resisting Arrest, a class “A” misdemeanor
  • Reckless Endangerment, a class “A” misdemeanor
  • Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer, a  class “A” misdemeanor

Spinner was arraigned in the Town of Pompey Court and remanded to the Onondaga County Justice Center on no bail.
