Caz library(Cazenovia 2016) The Cazenovia Public Library, in coordination with the Cazenovia Preservation Foundation, will present “A Willow Patch Adventure” Thursday, July 14, at 10:30 a.m. Children ages 8-12 are invited to join CPF Community Coordinator Kate O’Connor as she leads an investigation into the Willow Patch ecosystem and the diverse organisms that call it home.

The adventure will begin in the Library Community Room with a brief discussion of ecosystems, in general, and the Willow Patch, in particular. Participants will learn about the important services that ecosystems perform and will be introduced to the concept of adaptation. They will apply this information to a quick drawing activity before heading outside for some hands-on experiential learning.

Once at the Willow Patch, children will have the opportunity to get their hands (and possibly clothes) dirty, exploring the natural surroundings and investigating a variety of aquatic and terrestrial critters. They will be asked to identify the adaptations that allow different organisms to survive in their particular habitats, and to consider each organism’s place in a food chain. This active and educational program will conclude with an identity guessing game designed to put our newfound knowledge to the test!

Registration is required. Stop by the Library or call 655-9322 to reserve a spot.

A rain date is scheduled for Thursday, July 21, at 10:30 a.m.

All events at the Cazenovia Public Library are free and open to the public. For more information on this and other Library events, call 655-9322 or visit www.cazenoviapubliclibrary.org.
