Guglieri Named Chief of Staff; Mitchell Bumped to Associate AD; Marathakis Becomes Assistant AD
Colgate Athletics announced the promotions of Ann-Marie Guglieri, Jamie Mitchell and Angela Marathakis, effective immediately.
Guglieri is being named Chief of Staff, while Mitchell earns the title of Associate Athletic Director and Marathakis becomes Assistant Athletic Director.
“Ann-Marie’s incredible work ethic, unwavering loyalty and endless energy is invaluable to the university and to our division,” said Colgate Vice President and Director of Athletics Victoria M. Chun ’91, MA’94. “She continues to raise the bar for herself and those around her, including myself.
“Therefore, it gives us great pleasure to present her with this well-deserved promotion.”
Colgate’s Senior Associate Athletics Director and Senior Woman Administrator, Guglieri is in her ninth year at Colgate, the last two of which have featured tremendous growth in the Raider Athletic Department. Guglieri oversaw construction of both Beyer-Small ’76 Field and the Class of 1965 Arena, a combined $41 million in new facilities that have changed the look of Colgate Athletics and bolstered the Raider student-athlete experience.
The $3.6 million Beyer-Small ’76 Field debuted in fall 2014, and the $37.8 million Class of 1965 Arena is set for an on-time and on-budget opening of Oct. 1.
Managing Events & Facilities
Mitchell manages Colgate’s event management and facilities.
He oversees the home venues for Colgate’s 25 varsity sports and is the sport supervisor for men’s and women’s tennis, golf and women’s rowing. Mitchell oversees Colgate’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, is a member of the NCAA men’s tennis championship committee, and serves on the Board of Directors for CEFMA (Collegiate Event and Facility Management Association).
“Jamie’s incredible work ethic and great work overseeing our events and facilities has earned him this promotion,” Chun said. “He is an extremely valuable member of our team.”
Student-Athlete Success
Marathakis oversees Colgate’s student-athlete academic services.
Under her direction, Colgate student-athletes are qualifying for Patriot League and Colgate academic honor rolls at a greater rate than ever before. There were 31.9 percent more student-athletes on the fall 2105 Dean’s Award list, 17 percent more on the Patriot League Fall Academic Honor Roll and 54.5 percent more on the 2015-16 Colgate Raider Academic Honor Roll.
“The impact and leadership Angela has provided to our academic achievement area has been incredible,” Chun said. “She is a great bridge-builder and mentor.”
